Hello again Dreamers. The starting date for the show has been set back a week, so opening night will now be Wednesday April 29th. During rehearsals we are now finally realising how fast many of the show's costume changes have to be, which has made it necessary in the case of the scene before Three Weddings to write and workshop another scene. but that's not uncommon in developing a new musical. I have read many anecdotes about writers and composers having to cook up solutions to such problems on the spot, and they were facing much larger financial risks if it didn't work.
Last night really brought home to me how the pieces of this giant jigsaw all come together to achieve the final outcome, which I'm convinced will be an exciting addition to the genre. All credit should go to the cast who have stuck it out during some very trying times, but we are over the worst now, and the show has gathered around it an aura of 'can-be -done'. It may be instructive to reflect on the blogs that have been posted, and see the show's development over time. I would recommend it.
I would suggest too that everybody mind their health, as without being well enough to perform, you are not going to have a very pleasant time on stage. Stay out of drafts, and keep the kitchen temperature down to a healthy level at the theatre, because the A.C. is very hard on the voice.
